| Mount Kilimanjaro from Moshi |
In a couple of weeks, I will get on a plane and head back to Moshi, Tanzania a little over 7 years after my first visit. I am very excited! So much has happened since my first volunteer experience. Give A Heart To Africa and the people who are part of it are a huge part of my life and who I now consider family. We visit Monika, GHTA Founder and Director, in Canada whenever we get the chance. Dave and I travel all over the world with two of the volunteers I met on my first trip, Jenny and John. I am still in touch with Erin, who lives in Australia, and who we hope to visit within the next year or two. My daughter, Kate, volunteered at GHTA for several months during 2014. Dave also volunteered at GHTA several times and he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro ( a fundraiser for GHTA) in August of 2018. Dave's sister, Paulette, also volunteered in 2015, and was there with Jenny, John, and Monika. We also met many other volunteers from all over the world who are now good friends.
Former GHTA students from the 2012/2013 Class, Upendo, Asha, Diana, and Mlay are still part of my life as they keep me updated about their lives, and what is happening with their families through the wonders of Facebook and WhatsApp.
